Reading Tigers Program

If you're interested in helping kids improve their reading skills, do we have the perfect opportunity for you!

Waverly Park Elementary and Waverly Park PTA are committed to reaching the goal 100x25 established by FWISD Superintendent Dr. Kent Scribner. The goal is to have 100% of 3rd graders reading at grade level by 2025.

Waverly Park Reading Tigers is a joint effort with our school administration/staff, PTA, and community. The program will focus on our 2nd and 3rd graders and will align reading mentors/tutors to spend one-on-one time with students to help with literacy.

Our originally planned kick-off training event planned for January 22, 2019 was rescheduled due to lack of RSVPs. The training has been rescheduled for Tuesday, March 26, 2019. So we hope that you'll consider getting involved! Lishelle Covin, our Waverly Park Librarian, will provide training to volunteers and walk through the Reading Tigers program. We will also establish schedules for our volunteers so we are able to serve our students at Waverly Park.

Let's READ! Readers are Leaders! If you have any questions, please contact our PTA President, Alexandar Montalvo, at wavparkpta@gmail.com.
