LONG, BUT USEFUL & IMPORTANT. PLEASE READ ALL THE WAY THROUGH.   ***SPANISH (ESPANOL)

Here is a summary of  Waverly Park Elementary School / Fort Worth ISD online learning resources!

If you’re still trying to work out the kinks, here is a summary of helpful information your friendly Waverly Park PTA has compiled - all in one spot!

3. How to Reset Your Student’s My FWISD Password (if you haven’t already done so)

All passwords must be reset due to the FWISD data breach that occurred before Spring Break.

4. Logging into your student’s MyFWISD Portal

Watch the 1st half of this video: https://www.loom.com/share/013ad0fbbab7420ab5a2fd091cc01c7c

To log in: https://launchpad.classlink.com/fortworth

Use their student email (lowercase s followed by their lunch number @stu.fwisd.org) and their new password from Step 2.

If you (the parent) have a Microsoft account you’re automatically logged into on the device the student’s using (such as a hotmail account), be sure to log out first before trying to log in your student.

***IF YOU HAVE MULTIPLE STUDENTS SHARING ONE DEVICE, here are some tips:

  • Do NOT choose the “save password” or "keep signed in" options, as this will make it more difficult to switch between student profiles.
  • You can also try clicking on “incognito” mode. We’ve been told that makes it very helpful to switch between student profiles.
  • Also, be sure to log out of your personal account as noted above. Then, once you’ve logged in all your students for the first time (NOT saving their passwords or keeping them signed in), it should be easy to log any of them in because it’ll show all their student emails as an option.

Here’s another helpful video for everyone (you can watch it even if you don’t have an Instagram account): https://www.instagram.com/tv/B-KWTzsHFxn/…

The apps on your child’s My FWISD portal include Google Classroom, Achieve 3000, Renaissance Student (A/R Tests), Pathblazer, Office 365 (directly emailing teachers), and others depending on your student’s grade.

5. Logging Into Google Classroom

Watch the 2nd half of this video: https://www.loom.com/share/013ad0fbbab7420ab5a2fd091cc01c7c

Class codes were provided the morning of Monday, 4/6/20 by your student’s teacher(s). They also provided a code for the “Specials Classroom” (PE/Music/Art).

If it says you need a gmail account to access, log in with your student's email (slunchnumber) followed by @students.fwisd.org rather than @stu.fwisd.org.

The “stream” tab will have important messages from staff. Be sure to read it daily. The “classwork” tab will show the assignments and resources to review before completing the assignments.

Note that any comments made in Google Classroom are visible to the entire class, so consider contacting your teacher directly with questions.

6. Submitting Assignments in Google Classroom

https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=LsD1QJEN0Yg (a few things might not apply to our situation, but it’s good overall information)

Some assignments will need to be submitted and others may only require to be “marked as done.” Once submitted/marked, the assignment will show as “turned in” in the classwork thread.

How to TURN IN or MARK AS DONE Assignments- https://youtu.be/LKm6bUzXvKU    https://www.loom.com/share/9718440a6f1f4285852dbe59d7056abc

How to Upload Assignments- https://youtu.be/0W3_dt2V26w  (If you need to attach something before submitting an assignment; for example, a picture of a writing assignment if you don’t have the ability to type it directly into Google Classroom)

For Specials assignments, just “mark as done.” You may also choose to leave a comment (public class comment or private comment) letting the teacher know what you did. If you’d like, you may also choose to follow the steps above to “turn in” photos of your artwork or simply email the teacher. However, just “marking as done” is all that’s required. Think of the specials lessons as recommended activities instead of assignments.

7.  Google Meet Information (Zoom Replacement)

FWISD is now requiring Google Meet be used for web conferences. It has a closed caption option. You can only join a meeting using a link sent by your teacher. If your student is logged into their MyFWISD Classlink portal, it will automatically log them into Google Meet.

Learn more here: https://youtu.be/t4mnczguuyE

8. Logging into Renaissance (A/R Tests)

Use the app on your student’s MyFWISD portal.

Login: first initial of student’s first name and student’s last name. Example: rbaeta

Students with common last names may have a number after their last name. Your student will know if this is the case.

Password: Your student's lunch number

You can take A/R tests on books you already have (check the lexile level on www.arbookfind.com) or read something on Tumblebooks (see below).

9. Reading Resources

TUMBLEBOOKS (e-books)

www.tumblebooks.com

Login: ftworth
Password: fwisd

If wanting to read a book you’d like to take an A/R test on, be sure to first enter the title in the Renaissance app to make sure that book has an associated quiz.

BEANSTACK

https://fwisdwaverlypark.beanstack.org/users/sign_in

15. Frequently Asked Questions

1. Will they be seeing their teacher give live instruction?

There will be at least a weekly zoom meeting with the teacher this week of April 6. Teachers are available Monday to Friday from 9 to 3. Please remember that they have a family as well.

FWISD has not been specific yet about the number of live instruction moments that teachers will be required to have. A recorded video will count as “live.”

2. How much time will they be online?

FWISD’s goal is no more than 3 hours. Less for lower grades, possible that long for upper grades. Each family is different.

3. Will attendance be taken?
We have not heard anything from FWISD leadership.

4. Will my student be promoted to their next grade?

FWISD will be using the grades from the 1st six weeks through the 4th six weeks grading periods to determine promotions and retentions.

5. I ordered/paid for Group Class Photos before spring break. When will I get them?

Typically, group (class)photos are sent to the school and then distributed to those that preordered. So, chances are they’re at the school (if they’ve been able to receive mail) and will be distributed when we’re physically back at school. However, please contact Glamourcraft directly for aa definitive answer: 817-923-9901 or email them through their website www.glamourcraft.com
